White/Yellow/Orange Varieties for 2011

Amana Orange  A very large heirloom beefsteak tomato from the Amana Colonies in Iowa. Regular leaf plants produce an abundance of light-orange fluted  tomatoes that can reach 2 pounds or more. Some describe their flavour as “tropical, fruity”. A very popular tomato. Indeterminate.

Caro Rich Late. High in beta carotene. Prolific bushy habit. Bright orange 3-4″ with a sweet fruity flavour. Indeterminate.

Djena Lee’s Golden Girl Mid-season. Bright gold colour, 8-12 oz. Meaty fruit with rich sweet tangy flavour. Indeterminate.

Dr Wyche’s Yellow  New for 2011 (80 days) A growing favourite with die hard heirloom afficionados. Dark gold-orange fruits at 8-20 oz have outstanding flavour and texture. Vigorous plants are long standing and very productive. Indeterminate.

Earl of Edgecombe New for 2011 (85 days) This beautiful orange variety is now an heirloom, having been brought to England in 1960 by a New Zealand sheep farmer who left his country to claim the title of 7th Earl of Edgecombe. Meaty and juicy, the mid-sized fruits(about 8 oz) are very round and perfect. Sweet and mild taste with a slight tangy-ness. Indeterminate. 

Elbe (89 days) Named after the Elbe River in Germany, about 1889. Sweet and tart deep yellow to orange beefsteak type, weighing in at 8-12 oz. Potato-leafed foliage. Indeterminate.

Ildi  (70 days) These lovely yellow tomatoes are very prolific, growing in large clusters of grape sized tomatoes, encompassing most of the plant. Their flavour is sweet yet with a good acid balance. Indeterminate. SORRY-SOLD OUT FOR 2011

Jaune Flamme (70 days) Prolific French heirloom that bears in clusters of 6, beautiful, 1-1/2 inch, round golf-ball sized tomatoes that are persimmon-orange coloured inside and out. A delicious full-bodied flavour that is great for snacking. Indeterminate. SORRY-SOLD OUT FOR 2011

Kellogg’s Breakfast (85 days) Very large, oblate shaped orange fruit. Wonderful flavour- a favourite . Indeterminate.

Moon Glow New for 2011 Mid season. A deep orange, mid to large-sized oval tomato with a good flavour and heavy yields. Indeterminate

Nebraska Wedding (90 days) 10 ounce heirloom tomato producing orange globe shaped fruit  in  large yields. Sweet-acid flavor, very meaty. Legend has it that Nebraskan brides were given this fruit as a gift on their wedding day. Indeterminate

Old Ivory Egg This rare, ivory cream tomato that is shaped and about the same size of a chicken egg originated from a Swedish seed saver. Abundant quantities yield a tomato with flesh that is  creamy, sweet and rich. This tomato was a favourite for us and for many of our customers last year. SORRY – SOLD OUT FOR 2011

Russian Persimmon (90 days) Unusual, persimmon-coloured, rose-orange tomatoes weighing 12-16 oz or more. Ripens from the blossom end to the softly dented light green shoulders, gradually acquiring its distinctive rose-orange hue. Significantly more acid than most yellows.  Delightful flavour. Determinate.

Summer Cider New for 2011 (85 days) This yummy, sweet, golden beefsteak with the most enticing name. Beautiful, bright, sweet and fruity taste of summer. The potato leaf plants grow very large with thick stems and produce loads and loads of these 1-2 pound glowing gems.

Snow White Very sweet, 2 oz ivory-coloured tomatoes – larger than Snow White – about the size of a ping pong ball. Perfect for cutting in half for salads.

Tangella (75 days) An English heirloom and sibling of Tigerella. Bright orange 2-3 oz large cherry-type fruit. Great flavour – sweet with citrus undertones.  Indeterminate

White Queen (82 days)Mid season 3″ pale skin and flesh. More flavour from this 6-8 oz fruit than other whites. Excellent yields. Indeterminate.

White Beauty (Snowball) 75 days. This is a smooth beautiful parchment white tomato with a sweet citrus flavour. May be from the mid 1800s. Indeterminate.

Yellow Cherry Mid-season. A productive yellow cherry tomato with 6 ft. vines. Excellent taste Indeterminate. SORRY – SOLD OUT FOR 2011

Yellow Pear Late. Very old variety, known since the early 1800s, low in acid and easy to grow. Fruits are pear-shaped, sweet and juicy. Productive with long, rambling 6 ft. vines. Indeterminate

Yellow Perfection (65 days) Another gift from a friend. These potato-leafed plants produced  an abundance of 2″ bright yellow cherry tomatoes that just kept producing all season long. This is a rare British heirloom. Indeterminate.
